I FELL IN LOVE WITH YOU AT SUNSET
An ode to the neighbourhood. This collection of pieces explores the learning of familiar places anew. Of falling in love with both their dewy surprise, and nostalgia, intertwined. Sunset swims at a beach you’ve been to hundreds of times. Of time spent in the city’s communal backyards, parks. Peach pie in the cool of the evening. Cool Piquette in the heat of the afternoon. Reading a new book in the shade of an old tree. The way a place that previously went under your nose can become treasured, by necessity.
This collection of work hosts floating, shapes, lines, and marks, that explore the space between dream and reality; the abstraction of memory as bits and pieces float into cognition and then slip away just as easily, stitching together experiences, sounds, smells, and feelings into momentarily concrete objects before floating back out of consciousness.
